I didn't take any pictures of my finger right after the accident but this is the earliest one after I'd been home from the hospital for several days, had my followup visit and they took off the bandage. The doctor had detached the nail and then glued it back on to protect the nail-bed, so
it wasn't really "alive" at that point (thus the strange color).
