By mounting a lathe chuck, and mounting a lathe cutting tool in the vise on the table, it can sortof pass for a lathe.

Another view of the lathe chuck. I had to drill & tap the MT2 tapered shank so the drawbar could hold it in place.

The tile and grout is all done. Still need to seal the grout, caulk, get a door installed, and work on the rest of the bathroom.

Added air chambers because the washing machine gives the plumbing quite a pounding. It doesn't fill the tub all at once... it's turning the water on and off maybe 100 times per load.

Ceiling texture. I got the texture gun on sale at Harbor Freight for $20 and used it to spray thinned drywall compound. Was wanting a fairly smooth ("orange peel") result but it came out rougher. After painting it's passable though, I guess.

Attempting to strip the black tar off the floor. They used it for tile adhesive a long time ago, apparently.

The tile expert at Home Depot said this stuff would work, but it's only for water-soluble adhesive, not tar. It didn't.

I dissolved the tar with paint thinner, scraped it some more, and wiped it up with lots of paper towels. Then, I used engine degreaser (about 4 of the spray cans from AutoZone) as an emulsifier to make what is left water-soluble.

It's handy to have a hot water connection in the laundry room. :-) I connected a hose and used it to wash away the engine degreaser, and used the shop vac to collect the water as I went. Unfortunately the house smelled like engine degreaser all night.

First coats of paint are done. I'm planning to try a textured paint which goes on top of this color, which will have white highlights in it.

I'm going to leave the original ceramic light switches in this room, even though they don't work as smoothly, just for nostalgia or whatever.

Cut and cleaned up a rusty sheet of steel as a cover for the electrical connections here. It's not rusty anymore but kindof pitted, which goes well with the texture of the wall.

Figuring out layout of the tiles to try to get the lines centered w.r.t. all 4 doorways, as much as possible. (doorways to kitchen, back room, bathroom and water heater closet)

The tile cutter. I had been using a wet saw for the shower, but decided I needed a quicker way, and not having to be outside with a blade flinging water all over myself in this weather.
