There is something like a sandpaper sleeve, but instead it is metal with finely-ground industrial diamonds. It can cut ceramic as long as it's kept wet, just like the tile saw blade.

Problem area - have to cut tile to go around both sides of the door frame.

I made a cardboard template shaped to fit around one side of the door frame, and used it to mark the tile with a permanent marker (which isn't very permanent, actually). Then cut roughly with the tile saw; then cut the rounded areas with the Dremel.

I immerse the edge of the tile in water for Dremeling. Of course only the cutting bit should get wet, not the chuck or the rest of the tool.

By Sunday night I finished almost all the laundry room, and got a few tiles in the bathroom too. Have to let them set so that I can walk on them, to finish the rest.

I found a solid oak vent marked down at Home Depot. Had to make it a bit shorter to use here.

Finally got up the courage to see what was behind the "belly" in the wall. Turns out it had not been very well reconstructed after the last round of plumbing work, so needed some rebuilding.

I used a combination of pavers and such to fill the big gaps, and filled the small ones with mortar. Cut an extra piece of backer-board to make up the thickness difference, since the walls all have a thick coat of mortar over the block.
