I didn't take any pictures of my finger right after the accident but this is the earliest one after I'd been home from the hospital for several days, had my followup visit and they took off the bandage. The doctor had detached the nail and then glued it back on to protect the nail-bed, so

The stone came with this 8" Milwaukee grinder, which spins at only 6500 RPM (slower but with waaay more torque). I found most of the pieces. As you can see it was held together by steel teeth, but one of them broke off and stayed with the stone. I think the stone itself got my finger as it flew by, but it's also possible my finger came in contact with these steel teeth while it was still spinning.
