February 18, 2001 - I went with my friend Amy to see this phenomenon. It happens rarely, when there is an unusual amount of rain at the right time of year. It was also a very nice day for a hike, and we went up into the mountain a little.

The Superstition Mountains are to the east of Apache Junction, Arizona. This is a desert; we get about 10 inches of rain most years, and so there isn't a lot of greenery most of the time.
